Won 3^rd prize in the 2011 Christmas Competition for Opera Singers held in Helsinki. The head of the jury was Sergei Slonimsky. Got awarded also the special Diploma prize for ‘Best interpretation of contemporary music’ by Sergei Slonimsky.

Joseph Lia graduated with a BA (Hons.) degree for music and composition (University of Malta), ALCM diploma (London College of Music), and the Diploma in Sacred Music (University of Malta). He is currently studying voice performance under Prof. Sergei R. Riazantsev at the St Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov in Russia. He holds the Diploma for Best Talent of the 2nd Independent International Competition for Opera Performers (Moscow 2010).
